Peggy and David say they were lucky.
They tried to have a child for one year before they started any testing. After the first year, Peggy was told she had a 13 percent chance of conceiving a child without treatment.
“A friend told me about the Washington University Infertility and Reproductive Medicine Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital,” Peggy says. “I was very lucky because I became pregnant on my first try with in vitro fertilization.” Peggy’s specialist, Valerie S. Ratts, M.D., transferred four of Peggy’s eggs, and Peggy became pregnant with twins, Devon and Daniel.
“I tried to stay as stress-free as possible, even with all of the shots and tests,” Peggy says. “They said the treatment might make me moody, but I just tried to keep my stress level very low. Everyone at the center was so nice.”
“Our twin boys were born eight years ago,” she adds. “We were very happy with the Center and would recommend it to everyone!”
